Definitions

Small dog - any dog 25 pounds and under.

Large dog - any dog not considered a “small dog” by definition.

De-matting - dealing with any matt larger than a thumbnail or more than 5 matts smaller than a thumbnail.

De-Shedding - Any brushing that includes the use of typical shedding tools that remove loose undercoat.

Excessive Brushing - Brushing over and above what is included with the bath or full groom.

Matt caused shavedown - Anytime a dog is matted to the point a shavedown is necessary. There is additional risk involved.

Handling Charge - A handling charge is necessary anytime it takes longer than average to provide a service due to pet’s age, health, behavior, or if it takes two people to handle the dog

Sedation - any medication that creates sedation in a dog. Sedated dogs are more difficult to groom as they usually cannot stand or control their movement. Muscles and skin have less tension and consequently are easier to catch in a blade. Extreme caution must always be used when grooming a sedated dog and this takes extra time. Sedated dogs take the place of two regular grooms for that size dog.
